The Mississippi State Judicial System, Amendment 4, also known as Amendment 4, was on the ballot in Mississippi on November 2, 1982, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment proposed that the constitution be amended via House Concurrent Resolution No. 23. The amendment proposed that Section 152 be amended to establish not more than 20 circuit and chancery districts and that the legislature must establish criteria by which the number of judges in each district shall be determined. Districting will rely on the federal census.[1]
