The Mississippi State Property Lease Terms, Amendment 5, also known as Amendment 5, was on the ballot in Mississippi on November 4, 1986, as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment. It was approved. The amendment proposed that the constitution be amended via Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 537. The amendment proposed would authorize the legislature to extend the maximum lease period of 25 to 40 years for sixteenth section lands (land held in trust by the state) that are leased for ground rental.[1]
