The Missouri Director of Insurance is a state executive position in the Missouri state government.
The director oversees the Missouri Department of Insurance and is responsible for policy decisions, regulation, legislation and communications.[1]

Appointments
Per Article IV, section 36(b) of the Missouri Constitution, the director of insurance is appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the state Senate.

Article IV, Section 4 of the Missouri Constitution gives the governor authority to fill vacancies in the office:
The governor shall fill all vacancies in public offices unless otherwise provided by law, and his appointees shall serve until their successors are duly elected or appointed and qualified.[2] |
Duties
The director is responsible for "policy decisions, regulation, legislation and communications. The director’s office also includes the Receivership and Legal sections. When a judge orders an insurance company into receivership, the director is responsible for either rehabilitating the company or liquidating it."[3]
