Mitchell Englander
Mitchell Englander was a Republican member of the Los Angeles City Council in California, representing District 12 from 2011 to 2018.[1][2] Englander stepped down from the city council December 31, 2018, to work for a sports and entertainment firm.[3]
Englander was a 2016 candidate for District 5 representative on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors in California. He was defeated in the primary election on June 7, 2016.
Biography
At the time of his city council service, Englander's professional experience included holding leadership positions on the boards of several community organizations such as the North Valley Family YMCA and the American Diabetes Association in addition to several others. His professional experience also included owning a small business and serving as a Reserve Police Officer for the Los Angeles Police Department Reserves.[1]

Los Angeles County held elections for county commission, district attorney, and special districts in 2016. The general election was held on November 8, 2016. A primary election was held on July 7, 2016. The candidate filing deadline for this election was on March 11, 2016. 2015
The city of Los Angeles, California, held elections for city council on May 19, 2015. A primary election took place on March 3, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was December 3, 2014. Seven of the 15 city council seats were up for election.[5]
In District 12, incumbent Mitchell Englander was unopposed.[6]
Noteworthy events
Federal corruption charges
On March 27, 2020, Englander pleaded guilty to one count of "scheming to falsify material facts" in a federal investigation. He had previously been charged with obstruction of justice in an FBI investigation of corruption allegations against him.[7]
