My father immigrated to the City in 1966 from Jordan without much, but with a dream for a better life. My parents were life-long tenants, union members and small business owners who taught me that with hard work you can create a better future for yourself and your family. Although much has changed in our city since the days when they paved their way, I want to make sure those same opportunities are available for future generations. I have over two decades of experience as a teacher, attorney, and community advocate. My children were born in District 3, are being raised here and as a 10-year resident of the District and committed community leader, I am invested in these neighborhoods and committed to getting things done. I am a proud member of the SF City Attorney’s Office and I am very proud of our office’s role to Save City College.

I sit on the board of Russian Hill Neighbors and have previously served on the boards of San Francisco Heritage and the Union Square Foundation. I am the former Chair of the Middle Polk Neighborhood Association and Co-founder of the Van Ness Corridor Neighborhoods Council. I hold a BA in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley.

Our best days are yet to come for us and our children, but we must demand better. This neighborhood is my home, and as Supervisor, I will fight every day for the betterment of our city and for accountability in local government.
  • San Francisco needs common sense solutions on housing that put neighborhoods and residents first while continuing to build housing that adaptively reuses land. Our City must protect our affordable housing stock to support working families & individuals across the income spectrum. Preservation & protection of existing housing, while building new housing, is the City’s responsibility. We also need to build workforce housing for people who don’t qualify for affordable housing but are priced out of market-rate housing and I support innovative financing to make this happen. As Supervisor, I'll be committed to building and preserving affordable housing, protecting rent control, and helping working people move up the economic ladder.
  • As Supervisor, I will champion increased resources and support for our police and emergency responders to ensure our law enforcement departments are full-staffed and prepared to respond to emergencies, including hate crimes happening in our city. The Police Department, Fire Department and 911 Dispatch all need more support. I would support investing in recruitment, training, and retention programs to get our public safety and law enforcement offices up to full-staffed levels. The City should invest in initiatives aimed at recruiting, training, and retaining a diverse police force, our healthcare providers, 911 dispatchers and firefighters, including women, BIPOC individuals and multilingual individuals.
  • I want to make our City fun again. Some neighborhoods have not come back after COVID. Promoting special events to attract visitors and get people excited again is the way to go for D3 and beyond. As Supervisor, I would support programs and investments that attract and retain locally-owned small businesses. We need to make it easier for businesses to operate and thrive in our city. I would support simplifying the permitting process, there should be a single point of contact they’re assigned to at the City. That representative would be tasked with shepherding the applicant through every step of the process and providing them with information on available opportunities including but not limited to tax credits, loans and available grants.
Being a District Supervisor is about more than just showing up once in a while. The first and foremost responsibility is to represent the small businesses and residents of District 3, while also being a part of the larger conversation surrounding the issues plaguing our city. Constituent services are one of the most crucial support mechanisms that a Supervisor should be offering the district that they represent, while also focusing on crafting policy that will benefit the district and the city as a whole.
A Supervisor must have deep roots in every neighborhood in the district as well as professional competence and understanding of how city government works. As Chair of the Middle Polk Neighborhood Association, I fought to create the Discover Polk Community Benefit District ensuring that business owners on Polk Street have support to thrive. As Deputy City Attorney, I fought to protect the city’s finances and taxpayer dollars. My experience as Deputy City Attorney has given me insight into the inner-workings of our city government, giving me the ability to hit the ground running on Day 1.
