I am a mom, veteran, and patriot. Strong education is a key to societal success and I have advocated for stronger public schools, access to other schools if not a right fit for the child, and a solid education for all students. Right now, 18.1% of out districts students are graduating with single digit proficiency scores weakening our work force and remaining dependent on parents. Over 97% of those students have the capability of being independent and maintaining meaningful employment. Not having them lead productive loves has damaged them, their families, and society as a whole.

People can't sleep at night. They['re worried about the stock market losses, the inflation causing things to cost much more and $5/gallon gas. Families there were getting by are now struggling and with last week's 8.9% inflation report, there doesn't seem to be any relief in sight. I understand how hard it is. We need to make sure the families that are working hard are able to keep as much pay as possible and have a means to keep themselves afloat.

We also need to encourage medical providers to come to our state and open practices to alleviate the lack of specialists and bring business into our state. Right now, it's difficult for medical providers to open and run practices. Let's make those practices easier as neighboring states have and encourage more medical provider to come to our state, improving healthcare options and expanding services.
  • Education is a key component to success. The current education system is not working as students are coming out less and less proficient. We need to help students get opportunities to be successful in their lives.
  • Inflation and gas prices are increasing almost daily. We need to make sure people are surviving these trying times. People need to pay their bills and take care of their families.
  • We need to improve employment and healthcare opportunities in our state and we can do that by creating a more positive environment for healthcare providers to open practices, especially specialty practices in our state therefore addressing the provider shortage and providing additional job opportunities for people.
I'm passionate about education, veteran's rights, and healthcare. I am a registered nurse and a mom of a disabled child who has really not gotten the tools needed to succeed and be independent. I have found that many families have experiences like this. Enlisted veterans also need help with this and I am an Alumni Ambassador for an organization called Warrior Scholar Project which help enlisted soldiers learn how to attend school and be successful in their endeavors.
I look up to strong women, like Queen Bess Coleman, female aviator, and Deborah Sampson, first female American veteran from the Revolutionary War. These were women who wanted to achieve great things when everyone else told them it wasn't possible and they went and did it anyway.
I understand the legislative process and have championed bills such as HB 581 (shifting the burden of proof from parents to school districts), HB 1513 (a bill to match the federal law which allows students with IEPs to remain in school until their 22nd birthday), and SB 381 (a bill to establish an Office of Independent Special Education advocate) in response to the testimony of numerous parents who spoke of their children not getting an adequate education and not being able to attain meaningful employment. These bills address constituent problems and benefit society overall by changing the way the system works to allow students to get the education they should. I listen to people and find solutions to their issues.
Better education systems which result in better economic opportunities for all.
I picked up trash in a park. I did that for 3 summers before starting work as a Girl Scout Camp Counselor.
The Big Shirt by Michael Lewis. Mr. Lewis often explores events that have a great impact on society and why they do. The book explains the mortgage crisis in a clear way and takes about the causes of the crisis so that future generations can avoid similar situations.
The state legislature proposes laws. They hear public testimony. The governor can support the legislation and sign it into law or veto it, at which point, the legislature can vote to overturn the veto with a 2/3 majority vote. The governor appoints people to carry out the laws as well cia the departments and positions he has in the government.
Inflation, education (funding and quality), judicious fiscal funding, expanding job opportunities, and judicious fiscal spending.
Yes. Many legislators have areas of expertise that are different from mine and I would be interested in learning about their areas and would hope they would be interested in mine.
Since this was completed this year, it isn't scheduled for further discussion for several more years.
Yes. We passed a bill which I championed last year HB 581, which shifted the burden of proof from parents to schools in due process hearings. During the study committee, many parents came forward and described how parents had their families and lives destroyed when their kids failed to be educated and lack proper supports and services to help them live independently and increase their proficiency to attain meaningful work in society. Many were relegated to adult services and had nothing to which they could look forward. Many were talented kids who needed some help. Large corporations like Microsoft are starting to try and hire kids like this, but they have to be educated in order to attain a position.
We did an exercise when I was at LHS in our NH History class. We all had to form a government and we all chose a democracy. As we were trying to build our governments, we realized that we had different opinions on a variety of subjects. Getting agreement from everyone was tough. Some compromise was necessary, but there are some things that are deal breakers.
