Campaign themes
2014
Barrett's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[1]
Jobs & The Economy
- Excerpt: "We must hold our government accountable for the money they receive through taxes and budget accordingly. Government must create a climate of stability in order to increase prosperity. Far too many of us have had to take on more work for the same amount of take home pay we used to get with one job."
Mental Health
- Excerpt: "I believe it is a mistake to disarm the good and law-abiding citizens in an effort to reduce crime and violence. Until this issue is addressed properly, we will continue to spend more and more money, time and effort in building and expanding prisons, law enforcement and educational programs aimed at troubled youth."
Water & Conservation
- Excerpt: "I believe we must be good stewards of the environment and practice safe and efficient means for the use of our land and it's resources. Colorado has written much of the law on fracking and it has been safe in practice for over 40 years now. It is a mistake to leave energy resources as well as the well being of our environment in the hands of foreign countries."
