Murnan's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Restoring responsible tax policy I believe in common sense tax policies that will work for Kansas families, not against them. We need fair tax policies to fund the vital state services Kansans rely on. That is why we should scale back the income tax cuts of 2012 and 2013, remove the LLC exemption, and eliminate the sales tax on food. These are common sense measures that will once again make Kansas a great place to open a business or raise a family. Building the future by investing in education I believe schools are the bedrock of our local communities and are crucial to rebuilding the Kansas economy. It shouldn't take a Supreme Court ruling for the Legislature to provide our schools with the level of funding required to meet the state's constitutional mandate. We have the opportunity now to reverse the course created by Brownback and his allies and reinvest in public education and protect the Children’s Initiative Fund to ensure every child has a chance to succeed. The Kansas Legislature needs to once again make education a priority. Ensuring all Kansans have access to the health care they need All Kansans deserve access to the health care they need. Our state has foregone over a billion dollars in federal funding due to Brownback's refusal to support Medicaid expansion. Reckless policies pushed by the conservatives have had real and significant consequences: rural hospitals have closed, state hospitals face severe staff shortages, and Kansans are not receiving the health care services they need. We can do better. I support Medicaid expansion to ensure all Kansans receive the health care they need. Investing in Kansas to grow our economy To grow the Kansas economy, we must once againinvest in Kansas. We must invest in education to ensure we have the highest quality workforce in the country. We must invest in our roads and highways - not steal from them - to again make Kansas a place where companies want to bring their factories and businesses. And we must restore the public's confidence in Kansas’s ability to govern and honor its commitments by passing balanced budgets.[6] |

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
