ABOUT Monique Johnson

I was born in High Point and live in Thomasville. I graduated from UNC School of Medicine and have enjoyed a career in medical education. I am a Democrat.

I'm running to represent YOU in the NC General Assembly as the state senator from Davidson and Davie counties. I am running because I know that I can make a difference in improving the lives of people living in our state and counties. I want to strengthen public education, healthcare access, and economic development. As you know, these are linked. Impacting one has an impact on the others.

I grew up in Thomasville, the home of Thomasville Furniture Industries, the nationally recognized brand of fine furniture. I remember the 1980's being a time of prosperity and growth for Thomasville, Lexington, and surrounding areas. It was a time when there were plenty of stable jobs with good pay and benefits. Working people could afford to buy homes, invest in their family's future, and even enjoy well deserved vacations. Things changed. When I returned from school to my childhood home, I saw this was not the Thomasville that I left. Good paying jobs were few and families were struggling. Life was much harder for everyone in the region. I want to ensure a brighter future for us all.
  • As an elected official, I will bring the following to the position of NC senator: Dedication, Discipline, Decency, and Diversity of Perspective
  • I want to strengthen public education, healthcare access, and economic development. As you know, these are linked. Impacting one has an impact on the others.
  • I promise to vote in the General Assembly in your best interest! Every meeting, every decision, every vote will be to benefit the people of Davidson nd Davie counties.
Public education, healthcare access, and economic development.
