The Montana Remove Prohibition on Disposal of Radioactive Waste Referendum, also known as LR-89, was on the November 2, 1982 ballot in Montana as a legislatively referred state statute, where it was defeated. The measure would have removed the prohibition on the disposal of radioactive waste materials in the state of Montana as enacted by Initiative 84. The measure would have provided for the control and condemnation of land used for disposal of mill tailings from uranium and thorium ore processing.[1][2]
