To put a legislatively referred constitutional amendment before voters, a two-thirds (66.67%) vote of all members of the Montana State Legislature is required.
This amendment was introduced as House Bill 372 on January 31, 2023. The House passed the amendment on April 4, 2023, by a vote of 64-34. The measure did not receive the required 100 votes to be placed on the ballot.[1]
