Provisions
SB 289 revised campaign finance laws to implement more rules and clarify definitions concerning the disclosure of funding sources. The bill also required disclosure of the funding sources of political ads and imposed other campaign finance disclosure requirements.[1]
Supporters and sponsors
Governor Bullock backed this bill. Supporters argued it would provide more transparency to the source of campaign funding for both candidates and ballot issues in Montana.[2]
Opposition
Critics of SB 289 said that the bill was too vague and that it was not specific enough in its definitions.[2]
