The Montana University of Montana Levy Referendum, also known as R-51, was on the November 2, 1948 ballot in Montana as a legislatively referred state statute, where it was approved. The measure provided for an increase in the tax rate of up to six mills for a period of ten years for the support, maintenance and improvement of the University of Montana.[1][2]
