Montana gun control advocates seek to block guns rights lawsuit
July 31, 2011
HELENA, Montana: Advocates for gun control and law enforcement groups in Michigan are asking the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals to uphold the lower court ruling that said states cannot shrug off federal gun laws and replace them with their own. The advocates are asking the court to reject the guns rights lawsuit, which argues that states should control the purchase and sale of guns and paraphernalia within Montana boarders. Opponents of the lawsuit say it would make it harder to trace guns used in crimes and felons would be able to obtain guns without a background check.[1]
