This measure sought to implement a levy at a rate of $.30 per $1,000 of assessed property value for a period of three years in order to help pay for operational costs of the transportation system in the county.[2]
Text of measure
The question on the ballot:
Shall the public authority, Montcalm County Transportation Authority, as provided for by Public Act 196 of 1986, for the purpose of operating a public transportation system, available to all, including public transportation services for senior citizens and persons with disabilities, levy a tax of up to 0.3 mills (that being $0.30 per thousand dollars of state equalized value (or taxable value, if applicable)) on real and personal property located within the County of Montcalm excluding the City of Greenville for a period of three (3) years, 2012, 2013, 2014. If the millage is approved and levied in its entirety in the 2012 calendar year, it will raise approximately $434,891.[3] |
