What would be your top three priorities, if elected?
We need a State Senator who can effectively collaborate with state and legislative leaders to accomplish more for Southwest Mississippi. By improving our infrastructure of utilities, transportation and communication; strengthening our academic, educational, and vocational training programs; and focusing on the development of our bountiful natural resources, I believe that opportunities will flourish in Southwest Mississippi. As a State Senator, I can use my vision for Southwest Mississippi to help pass legislation to make these things a reality.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Equalization of economic development opportunities not only between Southwest Mississippi and the rest of this state, but also with the rest of the Nation, is vital. When there are no jobs to seek, the young people don’t seek training. When there is not an available trained workforce, economic prospects score the area poorly when seeking a location for expansion. This is a cycle that has to stop. A strong liaison between the Representatives and Senators, both state and federal, is necessary to implement a plan to change this and bring prosperity to the region.
What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?
I am young enough to have the energy and enthusiasm to tackle the difficult tasks ahead. My education in accounting, law and community development will help me understand and solve our problems. Common sense tells me to listen to you the voters. Practical business experience helps me translate textbook knowledge into real workable solutions. Combined education, common sense and business experience makes me the candidate most able to represent the people of Southwest Mississippi.
