Morris W. Hood III was a Democratic member of the Michigan State Senate, representing District 3 from 2011 to 2018. He was unable to run for re-election in 2018 to the Michigan State Senate because of term limits. Hood also served in the Michigan House of Representatives, representing District 11 from 2002 to 2008.

Hood died on May 12, 2020, due to complications related to COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus.[1] Click here for more information about elected officials affected by the coronavirus.

Hood's professional experience included working as an auto manufacturing technician for the Ford Motor Company.[2]

Elections for the Michigan State Senate took place in 2014. A primary election was held on August 5, 2014, and a general election took place on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was April 22, 2014. Incumbent Morris Hood was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Matthew Keller was unopposed in the Republican primary. Hood defeated Keller in the general election.[3][4][5][6]
