Missouri: Three years after the shooting, Rachelle Morris' case appears set to go to trial.[1]
Morris, 28, has been charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action after the suspected shooting of former Republic Alderman Joshua Morris, 28 during a fight.[1]
Since the shooting, there has been a debate about whether Morris is competent to stand trial. She spent just under a year in a state mental facility before a judge ruled the case could go forward. Despite her attorney's attempt to find her permanently unable to stand trial.[1]
After meeting with public defender Christopher Hatley and Assistant Prosecutor Todd Myers, Judge Thomas Mountjoy has set the trial date for late January.[1]
