Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps Retirement Program (November 2009)
There wasa Mount Kisco Volunteer Ambulance Corps Retirement Program proposition on the November 3 ballot in Westchester County for voters in the city of Mount Kisco.
This proposition sought to enact a retirement fund program for volunteer ambulance workers who actively serve. Since it is approved, the program will provide $20 a month for each year that they were actively volunteering and would begin once the volunteer had reached the age of 65. This would only be good for up to 40 years of active service. The objective of this program is to keep volunteer in the service and to potentially entice new residents to join. If there are not enough volunteer there will have to be a paid force and that would be more money than the city can afford at the present time. A similar program was put in place for the volunteer fire department in 2003. To pay for this, local property taxes would be increased by about $.38.[1]
