Municipal Court Judge Jimmie Moore retires
June 28, 2011
Pennsylvania: After 12 years on the Philadelphia Municipal Court Judge Jimmie Moore is retiring. He has indicated that he is not done with public service and will announce his future plans before long. Moore spent most of his career working in Courtroom 306 which separates the bench from the accused and the victim's family with a pane of bulletproof glass, a necessary precaution, as many hearings turn violent. Moore has experience with the temptations that can lead to violence, drugs and gangs. He grew up in a Federal housing project in Hartford, CT and lost both his father and brother to homicide, his brother's shooting remains unsolved. Because of this Moore has created programs to help keep people out of his courtroom including programs at both Eastern University and St. Davids to train paralegals and legal secretaries. More recently Moore has been working to create "green-collar" Jobs for the underemployed, college students and ex-offenders through the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Philadelphia.[1]
