Bernalillo County, New Mexico, held general elections for county commissioner Districts 2, 3, and 4, county clerk, treasurer, district attorney, 2nd Judicial Court judgeships, and metropolitan court judgeships on November 3, 2020. A primary was scheduled for June 2, 2020. The filing deadline for this election was March 10, 2020.
Election procedure changes in 2020

The county government of Bernalillo County is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The county was first established in 1852 as one of the original counties in the New Mexico Territory. It covers a total of 1,167 square miles in central New Mexico. As of 2020, its population was 676,444.
County government
Bernalillo County has five commissioners who are elected by district to four-year terms with a limit of two terms in office.[1] Additionally, residents of Bernalillo County elect an assessor, clerk, probate judge, sheriff, and treasurer.

Three of 33 New Mexico counties—9 percent—are Pivot Counties. Pivot Counties are counties that voted for Barack Obama (D) in 2008 and 2012 and for Donald Trump (R) in 2016. Altogether, the nation had 206 Pivot Counties, with most being concentrated in upper midwestern and northeastern states.

In the 2016 presidential election, Hillary Clinton (D) won New Mexico with 48.3 percent of the vote. Donald Trump (R) received 40 percent. In presidential elections between 1912 and 2016, New Mexico voted Democratic 56 percent of the time and Republican 44 percent of the time. In the five presidential elections between 2000 and 2016, New Mexico voted Democratic four times. The state voted Republican in 2004.[2]
