The city of Corpus Christi, Texas, held nonpartisan elections for mayor and city council on November 4, 2014. The candidate filing deadline was August 18, 2014. Eight council seats—three at-large and Districts 1 through 5—were up for election.
Incumbents ran for re-election in the mayoral and at-large races and in Districts 1, 4 and 5. These included Mayor Nelda Martinez, at large representatives Lillian Riojas and Mark Scott, District 1 representative Kelley Allen, District 4 representative Colleen McIntyre and District 5 representative Rudy Garza.
Garza ran unopposed in District 5. Districts 2 and 3 were open seats.
Because no candidate received over 50% of the vote in the general election for Districts 1 and 2, a runoff election was held on December 16, 2014.
Jobs and urban infrastructure were some of the key issues that shaped Corpus Christi's 2014 election cycle.
