The city of Glendale, Arizona, held elections for mayor and city council in 2016. A primary election took place on August 30, 2016. Incumbent Mayor Jerry Weiers won re-election, with just over 50 percent of the vote against challenger Mark Burdick. Weiers was first elected mayor in 2012. In the race for the city council's Yucca District, Joyce Clark defeated incumbent Samuel Chavira by 22 votes. Incumbents Ian Hugh and Ray Malnar of the Cactus and Sahuaro Districts, respectively, ran unopposed for re-election.[1]

The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was June 1, 2016.[2]
