Constables
The constables in all of Pittsburgh's 32 wards were on the ballot in 2021. Independents had until August 2, 2021, to file for the races. If no candidates filed in those 14 races by the independent filing deadline, the seats were filled by write-in candidates in the general election. After the general election, the Allegheny County Elections Division determines if any candidates received the necessary amount of write-in votes to win the seat. If no write-ins received the necessary amount of votes, someone was appointed to the seat.
Note: Pennsylvania law does not require write-in candidates to file paperwork in order to have their votes tallied.
