Five seats on the Muscogee County School District school board in Georgia were up for general election on May 22, 2018. Georgia held runoff elections on July 24, 2018, for school board races across the state where no candidate received a majority of the vote in the general election.

The District 2 incumbent did not file for re-election and three candidates competed for the open seat: Mike Edmondson, Sheryl Hobbs Mccraine, and Bart Steed. Edmonson and Steed advanced to a runoff election, where Edmonson defeated Steed. Naomi Buckner, the incumbent in District 4, defeated Toyia Tucker. In District 6, incumbent Mark Cantrell won againts Eddie Obleton. A third candidate, Bob Roth, withdrew from the District 6 race, but his name still appeared on the ballot. District 8 incumbent Frank Myers lost to challenger Philip Schley. In the at-large race, incumbent Kia Chambers defeated Tony McCool.[2][3]

The Muscogee County School District is located in Georgia. The district was the 11th-largest school district in the state in the 2014–2015 school year and served 32,312 students.[4]

In 2012, Mitt Romney (R) won 116 out of 180 state House districts in Georgia with an average margin of victory of 36.6 points. In 2016, Donald Trump (R) won 106 out of 180 state House districts in Georgia with an average margin of victory of 36.8 points. Trump won four districts controlled by Democrats heading into the 2018 elections.
