Myra Selby is a partner at Ice Miller LLP in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she practices "commercial litigation with an emphasis in health care." She served as the first African-American and first female associate justice on the Indiana Supreme Court from 1995 to 1999. Since 1999, Selby has chaired the Commission on Race and Gender Fairness, which makes "recommendations on increasing gender and racial fairness in the legal system."

On January 12, 2016, Selby was nominated by President Barack Obama to the position on the United States Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit.[1] On January 3, 2017, Selby's nomination was returned to President Obama at the sine die adjournment of the 114th Congress.[2]

Selby graduated with her B.A. in 1977 from Kalamazoo College and her J.D. in 1980 from the University of Michigan Law School.[1]

Selby was nominated by President Barack Obama on January 12, 2016, to be a federal judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit. Obama commented on the nomination of Selby and another individual with the following statement: "These individuals have displayed exceptional dedication to the legal profession through their work, and I am honored to nominate them to serve the American people as judges on the United States Court of Appeals. They will be diligent, judicious and esteemed additions to the bench."[1]

The American Bar Association rated Selby Unanimously Qualified for the nomination.[3]

On January 3, 2017, Selby's nomination was returned to President Obama at the sine die adjournment of the 114th Congress.[2]
