N. James Turner
N. James Turner was a judge of the Ninth Circuit of Florida.[1] He was removed from office by the Florida Supreme Court in 2011.
Ethics complaints
Judge Turner has received several ethics complaints filed by the Florida state Judicial Qualifications Commission. The complaints include sexual harassment of female court employees, partisan campaigning for the nonpartisan judgeship in 2008, and erratic and improper courtroom behaviour, including engaging in personal affairs during courtroom proceedings. Turner was removed from the court and put on a temporary "period of unassignment" in April by Chief Circuit Judge Belvin Perry, Jr.[2]
State Supreme Court hears case
In September 2011, the Florida Supreme Court heard the case against Turner presented by the Judicial Qualifications Commission. The high court suspended the judge indefinitely without pay while it considered the merits of the accusations.[3]
