NEWARK, New Jersey: NJ Transit will receive $144 million in federal funds to help repair equipment damaged during Hurricane Sandy in 2012. The money will also help them recover losses from running temporary transportation services in the wake of the storm.[1] Overall the NJ Transit estimates they sustained $450 million dollars of damage related to the storm and are still at 94% of their service that they ran before Sandy.[1]
