Woodson earned two bachelor's degrees from the University of Southern California and her J.D. from Whittier Law School.[1][2]

Domestic Violence

  • Excerpt: "We need to come together & end abuse. Report it. There should be harsher penalties for abusers. I will advocate to end domestic violence."

Working Poor

  • Excerpt: "Nevada's working poor should have improved conditions. Resources should be available to assist this segment of the population. Nevada needs to take better care of the everyday worker. These workers sometimes have to work two or even three jobs. Some of these people lack things like affordable child care. They cannot access some benefits such as utility assistance because their income is too high. However, because their income is low they still live in poverty."

Health Care

  • Excerpt: "Affordable health care for all. Health care specific to women."
  • Excerpt: "The new health care system does not help everyone. Employees that are in the private sector or even government employees are not included. Some senior citizens still struggle with paying for their medications. Many government employees have a hard time paying their premiums and co-pays. In addition, some self employed people are not included. There needs to be affordable health care for everyone. Women should also have access to health care benefits that includes their specific needs, for example birth control and mammograms."

Housing

  • Excerpt: "Keep Nevadans in their homes. Keep our neighborhoods clean, vibrant and safe."
  • Excerpt: "Nevada needs a plan to decrease foreclosures and keep people in their homes. Keeping people in their homes keeps the neighborhood beautiful, maintains homeownership, and does not put people in a financial bind having to deal with a foreclosure. Everyone who experiences a foreclosure, will experience credit challenges. These credit challenges result in difficulty in obtaining new housing. Credit challenges also effect finances. Let’s keep Nevadans in their homes."

Economy

  • Excerpt: "Nevada's economy suffers due to lack of business and the high unemployment rate. Increase business, decrease unemployment."
  • Excerpt: "Nevada’s economy desperately needs improving. Our unemployment rates need to decrease. We need to attract more businesses to move to NV. We have made some improvements, however we need to make more substantial improvements. Nevada needs to support our business owners. Specifically, small business owners who in many instances need additional guidance and support as compared to a large corporation."

Elections for the Nevada State Assembly took place in 2014. A primary election took place on June 10, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 14, 2014. Nelson Araujo defeated Danny Alires, Chris Barry, Felipe Rodriguez, Matthew Tramp and Nakia Woodson in the Democratic primary. Jesus Marquez was unopposed in the Republican primary. Araujo defeated Marquez in the general election.[4][5][6][7]
