Nancy B. Firestone is a senior federal judge for the United States Court of Federal Claims. She joined the court in 1988 after being nominated by President Bill Clinton.[1] She was renominated to the court by President Barack Obama on April 10, 2014. If confirmed, she would have served a second 15-year term, however, on January 3, 2017, Firestone's nomination was returned to President Obama at the sine die adjournment of the 114th Congress.[2][3]
Education
Firestone earned her B.A. from Washington University in 1973 and earned her J.D. in 1977 from University of Missouri-Kansas City Law School.[1]

Firestone was nominated to the United States Court of Federal Claims by President Bill Clinton and was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 22, 1998 and began her duty. Judge Firestone's 15-year term expired in 2013 at which time she assumed senior status.[1] On April 10, 2014, President Barack Obama nominated Firestone to serve a second 15-year term on the United States Court of Federal Claims.[2]
Firestone submitted her questionnaire to the Senate Judiciary Committee on April 11, 2014.[4]
The Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing for Firestone on June 4, 2014, and reported Firestone to the full Senate on June 19, 2014, on a voice vote.[5]
Firestone's nomination was returned on December 31, 2014. She was renominated by President Barack Obama on January 7, 2014.[6] On January 3, 2017, Firestone's nomination was returned to President Obama at the sine die adjournment of the 114th Congress.[3]
