As a lifelong Democrat, I have worked in legislation and politics in Sacramento, advocating for pro-choice rights and serving on the State Dental Board. I was appointed to the California Food and Agriculture Board now serving my second term. I am determined to ensure a safe future for future generations and I am convicted of the transformative power of people working together toward a goal that benefits all. That is why I am running as the Green New Deal Candidate for Congress.
  • We must acknowledge equal public education for all as a bedrock principle of American society. This means investing all necessary resources to reduce classroom size; prioritizing support for inner city and low performing schools; paying teachers in line with similarly educated professionals; and providing pre-K education for children of all families who want it. Regarding foreign policy, we must end reckless overseas wars, while pursuing peaceful and diplomatic avenues for promoting human rights worldwide. I support a significant reduction in military spending, while increasing support for those who are serving and all veterans. We have no need to maintain a military presences in scores of foreign nations.
  • Criminal justice reform must work to protect us all, while prioritizing the rights of victims and rehabilitation for offenders. I also support reducing the burden on the system by legalizing recreational cannabis. We must protect and expand Social Security. Healthcare is a right. I support Medicare - with dental and optical care included - for all. I will always support a woman's right to choose and have access to all reproductive services. All refugees - including those fleeing the climate crisis - deserve a fair process for having their asylum claims heard. I also support the great American tradition of welcoming an agreed upon number of immigrants each year.
  • I support a guaranteed annual income for adults who are at or below the federal poverty level. I support increased inheritance taxes for wealth transferred at $50 million or more; a Wall Street transaction tax; and Senator Warren's wealth tax proposal for billionaires. I support closing tax loopholes and expanding the IRS with the stated mandate to recover avoided taxes of the upper income elites.
More than 11,000 scientists can't be wrong. The climate crisis is accelerating rapidly. The time for planning is over. The time for action is now ... before it's too late!

I support the concept of a World War II-scale national government mobilization to build a new energy system based on wind, water & solar energy to get the U.S. off of fossil fuels. Regenerative Agriculture is the answer to our looming food crisis. It emphasizes a speedy transition from our current mega-scale, chemically-dependent food producing methods to healthier, organic, and ecologically-minded farming practices.
