|When I was 6 years old, my mother read a newspaper article to me about a lawsuit that filed after a man broke into a woman's home and was bitten by her dog. The man sued the woman and won! I couldn't believe something so unfair could happen. My mother told me that if I wanted things to be fair, I needed to be a judge. From that point on, I told everyone I would be a judge one day. I believed in fairness then, and I believe in fairness now.
I received my undergraduate degree in Criminology and Law from the University of Florida, and my law degree from Florida Coastal School of Law. I am licensed to practice law in both state and federal court, and have over 15 years of experience as an attorney. I serve on the Family Law Rules Committee and the Government Advocacy Committee of the Florida Bar. I have also served on the executive committee of the Family Law Inns of Court for the last 5 years.
My husband and I built our law firm in 2009 from the ground up - and have been small business owners ever since. I have been involved in my community my entire adult life, and am currently a member of the Rotary Club of Jacksonville and on the board of Breakthrough T1D (formerly Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).- Integrity and Common Sense for the Bench. It is imperative that our judges have integrity and exercise common sense. Without integrity, there is no fairness.
- Judges Are Our Last Line of Defense. It is the judge's responsible to protect the people from criminals who may hurt us, the government who may infringe our rights, and special interest groups who may engage in lawfare and use the justice system to push their agenda.
- Equal Justice Under the Law. Judges must be impartial and apply the law equally to everyone, regardless of race, gender, religion, socioeconomic status, or political affiliation.
