Cooper ran in the 2012 election for New Mexico State Senate District 21. She ran against Robert M. Doughty III and Mark Moores in the Republican primary on June 5, 2012. Moores won the Republican primary and will face incumbent Lisa K. Curtis (D) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[1][2]
