Nancy Dell Freudenthal is a federal judge on senior status with the United States District Court for the District of Wyoming. She joined the court in 2010 after a nomination from President Barack Obama (D) and assumed senior status on June 1, 2022. Freudenthal served as the court's chief judge from 2011 to 2018.

Early life and education

A native of Cody, Wyoming, Freudenthal earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Wyoming in 1976 and her J.D. from the University of Wyoming College of Law in 1980.[1]

Freudenthal was nominated on December 4, 2009, by President Barack Obama (D) to a seat on the United States District Court for the District of Wyoming vacated by Clarence Brimmer. The American Bar Association rated Freudenthal Majority Well Qualified, Minority Qualified for the nomination. Hearings on Freudenthal's nomination were held before the Senate Judiciary Committee on January 20, 2010, and her nomination was reported by U.S. Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) on February 11, 2010. Freudenthal was confirmed on a recorded 96-1 vote of the U.S. Senate on May 5, 2010, and she received her commission the next day. She served as the district court's chief judge from 2011 to 2018. Freudenthal assumed senior status on June 1, 2022.[1][2][3]
