An effort to recall Township Treasurer Nancy Johnson did not go to a vote in Crystal Township, Michigan.[1]
Recall supporters
The Daily News reported that the recall effort was initiated over $1,000 from Johnson's office that was unaccounted for.[2]

No specific grounds are required for recall in Michigan. To get a recall on the ballot in Michigan, recall supporters must collect signatures equal in number to 25% of voters in the jurisdiction in the last gubernatorial election. They have 60 days between the collection of the first signature and the collection of the last signature on the petition. Recall petitions are eligible to collect signatures for 180 days.[3][4][5]
The Montcalm County Elections Commission approved petitions for circulation on June 26, 2023. Recall organizers had until August 4, 2023 to submit at least 284 valid signatures to put the recall on the ballot.[1]
