During my early career I was a Film Preservationist at the Library of Congress, WPAFB, in Fairborn, Ohio. • I am pro-choice. Choice for women and girls to have full healthcare support while receiving a safe abortion due to illness, violence or personal reasons. Choice for women to have healthcare during pregnancy and birth, a stable home for the mother and baby, food security, enlightened education, and a clean environment as they grow. Roe v Wade exposed the need for and made available safe abortions, but it was a weak case ruling and should always have been recognized as the first step. We need a strong Constitutional amendment for Reproductive Freedom for Women and the Protection of Women, Girls and children. I will work with the people of Ohio towards this goal and its implementation.
  • The unstable sustainable energy policy in Ohio has kept many investors away from the state as we continue to rely on coal, oil, gas, nuclear and imports. Ohio’s energy instability is a factor in climate change as higher temperatures, stronger storms, tornadoes and droughts wreak havoc across the state. The corruption surrounding HB 6 reveals the ugly underbelly of the nuclear, coal, oil and gas lobbies dictating policy. We in Ohio must create a clear Clean Green Sustainable Energy Policy that meets the needs of all of our communities. Ohio can be a leader in research, development and investment in new green sustainable energies because of our dedicated college, agricultural, engineering and technology communities. We also need a clearinghou
  • Politicians don’t choose the voters, the voters choose their representatives. The Republican Majority Redistricting Committee submitted five Congressional maps that the Ohio Supreme Court ruled unconstitutional. This is lawlessness. No one is above the law, especially the Governor. We are a country of laws and these rogue members including Governor DeWine and Secretary Frank LaRose must be held in contempt by the court or voted out by the electorate. When elected and if the Republican majority holds I will be among those Senate and House members that call for contempt charges. And if no such caucus exists I will create one. The people of Ohio want fair maps and passed a Fair District Constitutional Amendment. It must be honored.
I have already discussed Choice for Women, a Sustainable Green Economy, and holding Republicans accountable to the redistricting fiasco in Ohio. I am from Clayton, and Dayton not only experienced the mass shooting in 2019, but as a region has high gun violence. The response to the mass murder of Uvalde school children by the Governor and the Ohio Republican Legislature in the passage of House Bill 99 this June was cynical and cruel to their memory and the memory of all children killed during school shootings. House Bill 99 allows arming school employees and guns in the classroom after only 24 hours of training with the agreement of the local school board. We need to listen to the Fraternal Order of Police and Teachers Unions who opposed this legislation stating this will only make schools less safe. If we want to make our schools safer we need Gun Control. Universal background checks, red flag laws, getting military grade weapons off the streets and a massive buy back program that will melt these guns into playground equipment. When we make our communities safer we make our schools safer. If the Ohio Legislature fails, then it must be done in the streets with the people as a Ballot Initiative to amend the Ohio Constitution.

Healthcare for all is also a top issue. Dayton, Ohio lost Good Samaritan Hospital, an anchor to the community. District 5 needs a hospital and the state needs Medicare for All. No one should be without access to equitable healthcare.
There is a mind boggling list, but to start, Climate Change, Women's Right to Choose, Gun Reform, Voter Rights and Integrity, Fair Elections, Food Security, Housing Security, Equitable Education, with the underpinning of the inalienable right to happiness.
The amount of money in our elections and the constant election cycle for some candidates makes the idea of a unicameral state legislature tempting. Right now in Ohio, both the House and the Senate have been gerrymandered to the point that the Republican party has a strangle hold on districts and the electorate. We need to address the direct lawlessness of not honoring the Fair District Constitutional Initiative passed by the people of Ohio and the rulings of the Ohio Supreme Court. Introducing unicameral state legislature, Rank Choice Voting or the National Popular Interstate Compact are certainly ideas to be entertained and initiated. It would show a strong democracy open to growth and action.
No. There is a first day for everyone and if someone has a passion to serve in the government please step up. You don't have to be a lawyer to be a Candidate for elected office. It is the duty of the citizen to serve in our democracy.
Yes, I believe that Democrats, Republicans and Independents can work together for the greater good and the people of Ohio. During the closure of Good Samaritan Hospital in 2018, Rep. Fred Strahorn (D) and Rep. Jim Butler (R) co-sponsored bipartisan legislation HB 780 to respond to the closure of Good Sam and make sure that communities have the opportunity to purchase the hospital or find an operator to run the hospital within one year. This legislation needs to be reintroduced. Another piece of bipartisan legislation is HB 305 which is a landmark piece of legislation to help bring equity to the unconstitutional funding of Public Schools in Ohio. The people of Ohio waited 20 years for this bill and though it passed the Ohio House it has languished in a Senate Committee since 2019. This piece of legislation needs to be reintroduced and passed. I will work with those legislators that share a vision of an open healthy, happier Ohio. I will reject the legislator and legislation that will hearken us back to a time of ignorance, suffering and suppression.
