I grew up in Indiana, have lived in Alabama, Michigan, and Washington, moved to Idaho 40 years ago. I have been a teacher, an editor, and a certified nursing assistant. I am now retired and raise poultry, fruits, and nuts on a very small plot just outside Middleton.
  • We must fully fund our public education
  • We must restore full human rights to all Idahoans, including bodily autonomy and freedom to speak, read, and publish, and protect our initiative rights
  • Protect our public lands and keep them accessible to the public, without leasing them for destructive extraction.
Education and personal freedoms. Adapting to our future. Justice, civility, tolerance.
Dedication to the good of all our constituents, not to any party, race, ideology, income level, or other subset.

Willingness to listen and possibly change course if it is shown that your proposal is destructive of rights.

Ability to see the big picture and the long term.
Good listener, detail oriented, excellent language skills, widely read. Problem solver, persistent and can think outside the box.
See that the state government runs, efficiently, ethically, and according to our constitution.
Legislatively, a more just and stable state.
Personally, land in good condition to feed people and help the whole ecosystem.
Minding the dispatch radio for a neighbor's cement business. Just one summer.
The Lord of the Rings, for the sheer beauty of the language.
Money has always been tight in my adult life. My husband (long dead now) had terrible health.
Remain independent of each other, able to suggest and consult, but neither controls the other.
Manage growth without running out of water.
Reject extremism and promote civility.l
Not necessarily, although they must study the mechanics of the process. We would benefit by having many more perspectives, from all fields of work, in the legislature. Most people cannot afford either the time or the money to campaign or serve, so the viewpoints are very limited at present.
Yes, people work better together when they know and respect each other personally. I was greatly inspired by the speech by Zooey Zephyr at the Gracie Pfost gala this year. She has learned to approach everyone with respect and earned their respect in return.
Several women have told me of their reproductive challenges and tragedies. They confirm my opinion that only women and doctors should be making these medical decisions, without fear of legal interventions.
All our work should be accessible to the public. Those who violate laws or ethics need to be held accountable. There should be no self-dealing nor special favors nor acceptance of valuable gifts.
It needs to be kept accessible, no further requirements or barriers. It should NOT be permissible ( as was passed this year) for state officials to spend public resources to support or oppose initiatives. They should remain neutral, only providing truthful information on impacts in their field.
