Nancy E. Smith is a judge for the 4th Department of the New York Supreme Court Appellate Division. She assumed office in 2004. Her current term ends on December 31, 2025.

Education

Judge Smith graduated from Allegheny College and Vermont Law School.[1]

Career

Judge Smith began her legal career in January of 1982 as an Assistant District Attorney in Monroe County. In July of 1984, she left to work with the law firm Greisberger, Zicari, McConville, Coorman, Morin and Welch for nearly a year. She then returned to the Monroe County D.A.'s Office and worked there from 1985 until 1992, when she was elected to the Monroe County Court. She began judging on this Court in January of 1993. In September of 1997, Governor Pataki appointed her to the New York Supreme Court 7th Judicial District. She was elected to this position in January of 1998.[1]

Smith won re-election to the New York Supreme Court 7th Judicial District on November 8, 2011. She ran on the Republican, Conservative and Independence party lines, along with Tom Moran. She ran unopposed in the Primary and General Elections.[2][3]
