  • We need balance in our state legislature that will provide a voice to fight for competitive pay for public school teachers
  • I will be your voice to advocate for better, cheaper healthcare options and the highest standard of clean air and water.
  • Our democracy rests on fair and safe elections through redistricting reform, and we need to keep our families safe through common-sense gun safety legislation
Education - I am an Educator.

The Environment-I want my children and their children to be able to breathe clean air and drink safe water.
Healthcare- No one should have to make a choice between feeding their family and taking their medicine.
Common Sense Gun Control- So our families can be safe at home and at school.

Voters Rights-Voters should be picking their elected officials, not the other way around.
My mother who's turning 92 this year. She still drives, is involved with her local community, handles her own finances (overseen by family and professional advisers), and is very bright and independent. I hope to be just like her at that age!

I want to leave the state of Indiana a better place in which to live.
The first moon landing 1969. I was 9 and watched it on a little black and white TV at a family friend's home.
At 15 I started as a sales clerk at a local pharmacy, working at the candy and gift wrapping counter. It was a great job because I learned how to wrap gifts correctly and occasionally try the candy.
Work /life balance while raising a family
In the Indiana House, given there are twice as many legislators as in the Senate, in order to get anything accomplished many more relationships need to be developed. House Representatives are able to file only half as many bills as in the Senate so I believe those bills need to represent big ideas.
No, I believe it's beneficial for state legislators to have previous community development experience where they've worked with the residents who they'll represent.
1. Making sure we have enough qualified teachers who want to stay in indiana to teach our kids

2. Providing the right workforce development training, through higher education, vocational and career specific training to move Indiana forward.

3. Dealing with climate change and how it will affect our agriculture sector and urban landscape.
Yes! Compromise, at one time, was the way legislation was passed. Then persons were elected who played the zero/sum game where no compromise was allowed. Hopefully voters have seen the effects of that form of legislation and will vote in individuals like myself who want to work with legislators from both sides in order to move Indiana ahead.
I'm willing to be part of whatever committee the caucus wishes to place me.
Legislators from the 70's and 80's who were willing to work with persons from both parties to get legislation passed.
In 2018 while canvassing I spoke to a constituent who, when I asked what was the most important issue to her, replied that she was afraid to put her son on the school bus in the morning. Stories of school shootings terrified her. The day after I met with her there was a school shooting in our county. She was the first person I thought of when I heard the news. Even though her kids didn't go to that school, I'm sure she was devastated by the news. I want common sense gun safety reform so that mom never again has to be afraid when she puts her children on the bus.

Naomi Bechtold participated in Ballotpedia's candidate survey on August 2, 2018. The survey questions appear in bold, and Naomi Bechtold's responses follow below.[2]

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

I have spent that last year talking with residents, city and county leaders and other elected officials – from all parties. The issues I have heard about that we need to fix will take someone who is willing to roll up their sleeves and work across the aisle to resolve. It’s time for a change, and I have the passion and plan to make a difference for the people in our state. In these discussion, what I've found to be to be the top 3 priorities in my district are:
1. FAIR ELECTIONS & VOTER ACCESS: To pass bipartisan redistricting commission legislation so the people pick their politicians, and not the other way around.
2. INVESTMENT IN PUBLIC EDUCATION & KEEPING OUR KIDS SAFE IN SCHOOL: Better funding for our teachers and support for mental health and wellness, restricted firearm access and funding for research around gun violence prevention.
3. ENSURING INDIANA CONTINUES TO BE THE CROSSROADS OF AMERICA: To fix our existing infrastructure and invest in a comprehensive transportation system that connects Indianapolis with surrounding cities and towns.[3][4]

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?

I am running for the Indiana State House of Representatives to represent a new voice and new vision for Indiana’s future, provide voters a qualified democratic choice in our district, and to build a balanced viewpoint to get things done. That is my political agenda, and that’s what I will do as the Indiana State House Representative for District 24.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many[4]

Naomi Bechtold participated in Ballotpedia's candidate survey on April 10, 2018. The survey questions appear in bold, and Naomi Bechtold's responses follow below.[5]

What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

1) Fair Elections & Voter Access

2) Investment in Public Education & Keeping Our Kids Safe in School
3) Ensuring Indiana Continues to be the Crossroads of America[3][4]

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Why?

1. Redistricting reform: We need to pass bipartisan redistricting commission legislation so the people pick their politicians and not the other way around. 2. Continued investment in public education and keeping our kids safe in school: Because education is the key to America's future success and every child should be able to access high quality education without having to pay for it. In regards to school safety, our youth should be able to go to school not fearful for their lives so I support funding for research in the area of gun violence prevention, mental health and wellness and restricted firearm access.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; invalid names, e.g. too many[4]
