I am a retired community college professor and administrator. I am a fierce advocate for reproductive rights and will do everything that I can to keep abortion and reproductive healthcare available to all women in Michigan. I will stand up for Democracy and defend our Democratic institutions.

  • Defend our Democratic Instituions & expand voting rights for everyone
Supporting education from pre-school through college and/or trade school. The Michigan State Legislator needs to fund public education adequately. Our public schools should be the best in the world. They could be if we support schools so they can pay teachers what they deserve as professionals who are educating OUR children. Support our public schools with enough funds that they have the resources to create the best learning environments anywhere. And keep public $ for public schools. Period. We need to figure out how to support pre-k programs so that schools can pay their teachers enough and still keep fees low enough for parents--and grandparents. I raised my granddaughers and paid for their pre-school. And I know many grandparents today who are doing the same thing. Just like I did, they are using what might have been money they could have been saving; or they might have just reached a point where they could make ends meet, and now they can't. Young parents, especially single parents, cannot make ends meet on minimum wage jobs. If they are trying to go on to school so they can get a better job, they barely get by, and often end up leaving their children with friends or family, which I know from talking with my students--and with my own experience--that these are often not the best situations. Pre-school workers were making $10-12 an hour 20 years ago; and that's what they are making today! I will work hard to find solutions to these systemic problems.
