Napa County Sales Tax for Road Repairs, Measure T (November 2012)
A Napa County Sales Tax for Road Repairs, Measure T ballot question was on the November 6, 2012, ballot for voters in Napa County, where it was approved.[1]
Measure T resulted in a countywide half-cent sales tax increase. Money generated from the sales tax increase will be used for road repairs in the county. The amount raised by the tax is expected to be about $11 million.
The Measure T tax will expire in 25 years.[2]
A two-thirds (66.67%) vote was required for approval, because in California, when a local sales tax measure is earmarked for a specific purpose (as is the case with Measure T), it requires a higher threshold for approval than local sales tax measures that are not earmarked for specific purposes.
