I am a product and graduate of Dearborn Public Schools. I continued my education earning a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan - Dearborn and a Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration from Wayne State University. I currently work as an attorney at the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation, focusing on economic development, corporate, financial, compliance, and governance matters. As a practicing attorney, I bring relevant skills to the table as a problem-solver, strategic planner, and a zealous advocate for his constituents. I have dedicated the last ten years working with students and families through educational nonprofit and programming work ranging from tutoring and mentorship programs to college and career readiness initiatives. I have witnessed and experienced firsthand many struggles and issues that the students and families of the district are facing. I have been able to help guide and empower these students through their educational journey. My experience in non-profit work has allowed me to formally create programs and resources to professionally and academically develop students nationwide. I have a proven track record of leadership, dedication, and passion. I am a strong advocate for student success and is the perfect candidate to represent and advocate for my community.

An elected official must be honest, open, and accountable to the public. School board members should make decisions that prioritize the best interests of all stakeholders, while being transparent about their actions and reasoning.

The ability to listen to different perspectives and work collaboratively with fellow board members, educators, students, parents, and the community is crucial. Effective communication helps build trust and ensures all voices are heard.

Managing the budget and allocating resources efficiently is key to ensuring the district’s financial health. School board members need to be responsible stewards of public funds, making strategic investments that benefit students and the district.

In a complex environment like a school district, challenges will arise. A school board member must be adept at analyzing problems, considering diverse viewpoints, and finding practical, effective solutions.

School board members must actively engage with the community to understand their concerns and needs. Building strong relationships with parents, educators, and local leaders is critical to creating policies that reflect the values and aspirations of the community.

A well-rounded school board member is not only a strong advocate for students but also a bridge between the school system and the community.

I also have relevant experience that will allow me to succeed including: law, contracts, policy, governance, budget and finance, leadership roles, grant writing, programming.

I would advocate for creating more spaces for parents to get involved in school activities, committees, and decision-making processes. Whether through volunteer opportunities, advisory boards, or parent-teacher associations, I would encourage active participation and input. As a diverse district, it’s important to recognize and respect the different cultural backgrounds of our families. I will work to create an inclusive environment by hosting culturally sensitive events and ensuring that communication is available in multiple languages. This will help bridge any gaps and make every parent feel welcome. When issues arise, I would involve parents in discussions and seek their input to collaboratively find solutions. Whether it's addressing safety concerns or improving school facilities, involving parents in the process strengthens community ties and leads to better outcomes.
