Natalia Cokinos Oakes was a 2014 judicial candidate for the 314th District Court in Texas.[1] She was previously a candidate for the Texas First District Court of Appeals in 2012.

Oakes ran for election to the 314th District Court.
Primary: She ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on March 4, 2014.
General: She was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 47.2 percent of the vote. She competed against John Phillips. [1][2][3]

Oakes ran for election to the Texas First District Court of Appeals. She was defeated by incumbent Judge Terry Jennings in the general election on November 6, 2012.[4][5]

Oakes received her undergraduate degree from Sophie Newcomb College of Tulane University and her J.D. from Thurgood Marshall School of Law.[6]

Career

Oakes works in private practice, in the areas of juvenile, family, and probate law. Prior to becoming a lawyer, she was a teacher at the elementary and high school levels.[6]
