As a graduate of the Glendale Union High School District, my husband and I are the proud parents of four GUHSD students. After graduating with a degree in Political Science from Westmont College, I returned to Phoenix to study public policy earning a masters in Public Administration at ASU while working in various roles with the City of Phoenix. Aside from going away for college in California, my attention has been on serving in my community. While staying home with our four kids, I have engaged in volunteer opportunities and leadership positions in the North Mountain Business Alliance, National Charity League, Boys Team Charity, Trinity Bible Church Children’s Ministry, Young Life and the Parent Organizations at Lookout Mountain, Mountain Sky and Thunderbird High School.

Community is a high priority and support for our school systems is vital. This is the reason I decided to run for an opportunity to serve on the Glendale Union High School District Governing Board.

  • I want to prepare students for college and the workforce. To do this we must: 1) Continue excellent educational options for students. Excellence breeds excellence. 2) Expect quality work from students and equip them for future success. 3) Focus on College AND Workforce Readiness -Our students need to be ready for the workforce and college. 4) Keep schools open for student learning. 5) Focus on academic rigor while supporting all students at their point of need.
  • We need to support teachers and their high standards for students. We need to: 1) Allow teachers to have high standards for their students. 2) Invest in resources that help teachers educate. 3) Focus on subject area content so students can learn.
  • Strong schools need engaged families so we need to Listen to Families 1) Enable feedback and interaction with parents and families. 2) Engage parent groups at the district level where decisions are made and continue an open door policy at the school site level. 3) Promote GUHSD as a top tier school of choice.
I am passionate about making our community strong. We do that with great resources in our neighborhoods like excellent schools. I want to support our school district so our famiiles and residents can be a great place to live for decades to come!
