I’m Nate Jester, Southwest Atlanta native from Ben Hill and proud graduate of Mays High School. After graduating the U.S. Naval Academy, serving as a Marine Corps infantry officer, and then earning my law degree from Harvard, I returned home to work as a real estate attorney and co-founded a business that builds affordable homes and opportunity in partnership with churches and nonprofits. I serve on the boards of the Atlanta Neighborhood Development Partnership and BLKHLTH (nonprofits focused on affordable housing and racial health equity), and I lead local scholarship programs that awarded over $100,000 in 2025.
  • Affordability is at the heart of my campaign. First, I will protect current homeowners in Southwest Atlanta from displacement and rising costs, making sure families who built this community can stay. Second, I will expand pathways to homeownership and increase affordable housing opportunities, so the working families and the next generation has a real chance to plant roots here. Homes are the foundation of community, and District 11 deserves policies that protect our legacy while opening doors for the future.
  • District 11 deserves investment and leadership that put us first. For too long, our infrastructure and constituent needs have been at the back of the line. I will fight for sidewalks, streets, parks, and transit that match the quality of other parts of Atlanta, and I will ensure that City Hall responds quickly and transparently when neighbors need help. My priority is accountability and service.
  • Building a stronger District 11 means investing in people: from seniors and youth to small businesses and working families. I will fight to expand access to good jobs, resources for seniors to age with dignity, programs that keep young people engaged and supported, and capital for local businesses to grow. When we strengthen our economy and provide real opportunities, we also create safer neighborhoods, because safety comes from stability and hope.
I’m passionate about housing, economic opportunity, and community well-being. I will fight to protect legacy homeowners, expand affordable options, and open more pathways to homeownership. I want to strengthen local businesses and create good jobs through training, apprenticeships, and access to capital. I believe in investing in youth enrichment and resources for seniors, while expanding mental health and community health services. Finally, I’m committed to accountable government that delivers reliable infrastructure and services, and to public safety rooted in prevention, opportunity, and trust.
My first job was as a lifeguard at city pools and the Andrew & Walter Young YMCA. I was trained through the City of Atlanta lifeguard training program and worked throughout high school every summer (and sometimes during the school year). That experience taught me responsibility, discipline and the importance of public programs that give young people pathways to earn a paycheck and build skills. It also showed me how city investment in youth jobs can open doors and create opportunities, something I believe we should expand for the next generation in Southwest Atlanta.
City Councilmembers should be bridge builders with the skills to solve problems, listen to constituents, and hold government accountable. They need financial and legal expertise to navigate budgets and development, leadership experience to manage complex issues, and a commitment to transparency so residents know their voices matter. My background as a Marine Corps officer and a Harvard-trained real estate attorney gives me the discipline, legal knowledge and collaborative approach needed to deliver real results for District 11.
