Gibbs ran for election to the Eighth Judicial District Court.
Primary: He was successful in the primary on June 10, 2014, receiving 35.6 percent of the vote. He competed against David R. Ford and incumbent Sandra Pomrenze.
General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 47.4 percent of the vote. He competed against Judge Sandra Pomrenze.

Education
Gibbs received his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University in 1987 and his J.D. degree from the Brigham Young University Law School in 1996.[3][4]
Career
Gibbs maintains his law practice, The Law Office of R. Nathan Gibbs, Ltd., in Las Vegas, Nevada. He focuses in family, collection, personal bankruptcy, and civil litigation law.[4]
