Born and raised in the Northland, Nathan comes from a family of educators, ranchers, and small business owners. From the quality of schools to the strong sense of community, Nathan was fortunate to experience all the Northland has to offer.

Nathan graduated from the University of Missouri, where he was elected Mizzou student body president in the highest turnout in the school's 183 year history, with over 8,500 votes cast. Nathan and his team ran on the platform of bringing “Tigers Together” as Mizzou was experiencing one of the university’s most challenging periods in terms of stakeholder interaction. In the Chancellor’s Cabinet, Nathan made it a priority to get the school’s administrators out of Jesse Hall and into student spaces on campus to connect with Tigers of all backgrounds through “Coffee on the Couch”.

When it came time for Nathan to pursue his career post-college, he came back home to KC, eager to make a difference in the K-12 education system. Nathan has taught math for several years in both Kansas City Public Schools and Park Hill School District. Nathan is also a scholarship reviewer for KC Scholars. Nathan attends Christ Community Church and enjoys playing pickleball, wood working, and exploring all the spots KC has to offer with friends.

  • Public Safety - Nathan is the endorsed choice to stand up for our first responders and lower the response rate times in the Northland. Nathan is endorsed by Kansas City Fraternal Order of Police.
  • Neighborhood Improvements - Nathan will fight for your neighborhood needs like he has for his own. Nathan made the sidewalks in his neighborhood ADA compliant and safer for students to get to school.
  • Next Generation - As a teacher, Nathan is committed to making better opportunities for our youth and future workforce. Nathan is a Teach for America Kansas City Alum.
Public Safety: The most important role of city government - Our First Responders are heroes who deserve strong support from City Hall.

Here’s How:

Ensure our police officers, fire fighters, and other first responders including mental health professionals have the resources and equipment they need to do their job. Hire more police officers to increase community partnerships and shorten response times. Keep partisan politics out of important policy decisions. Ensure City Hall effectively converses with constituents before voting on public safety measures.

Neighborhood Improvements:
The growth in the Northland is exciting. We need to ensure that our new development is done the right way while staying true to our commitments to existing neighborhoods and businesses.

Here’s How:

Collaborate with all Northland Public Improvement Advisory Committee (PIAC) Representatives on projects that improve aging infrastructure in our older neighborhoods. Advocate for the Northland’s share of GO Bonds for sidewalk and street repairs. Create inclusive parks and other public facilities for people of all backgrounds and abilities to enjoy. Continue to improve trash and recycling pick-up as well as snow removal efficiency.
Current District 1 Councilwoman Heather Hall, Kansas City Fraternal Order of Police, Northland Strong, Home Builders Association of KC
