Navid Sadigh is currently a second-year college student attending Irvine Valley College. He is planning to major in computer science, as well as minor in political science and economics. He is a lifelong resident of Irvine, having lived in the same house for a little over 19 years. During his senior year of high school, he was a member of both the Irvine Youth Action Council, where he acted in an advisory capacity to then Vice Mayor Tammy Kim and the Irvine City Council. During the same year, he was also a member of the Junior State of America, a student-run organization that teaches high school students how to become engaged in the civic and governmental process. Navid is also proud that he had the chance to attend public schools in Irvine for his primary and secondary education. He graduated from Northwood High School in 2021.
  • Increasing internet service quality by getting rid of the Cox Communications monopoly.
  • Reducing the pain at the pump by getting rid of the sales tax on gasoline.
  • Ensuring our police force is adequately funded and fixing the ratio of police officers to residents to ensure public safety.
Being a computer science major, I am extremely passionate about the role that government has in technology, service providers, privacy, and data security. I am also passionate about the investments that the government makes in our infrastructure, and I will always make sure that we allocate enough funding so that our infrastructure will be in prime condition. Because at the end of the day, we can't achieve our dreams of becoming the best city in the nation without the proper infrastructure.

I first decided to run for the Irvine City Council a couple of years ago. After being frustrated by the de facto monopoly that Cox Communications has in Irvine, I decided to run for the Irvine City Council to "bust" its monopoly. I want to make sure that every resident in Irvine has the option to go with an ISP that isn't Cox. By increasing competition, internet service quality will increase, and the price that people pay for that internet connection will decrease. Giving people multiple viable options for their ISP will also allow them to shop around, and get the plan with the provider that provides the best service quality at a competitive price.

I enthusiastically believe that the Irvine City Council has the power to fix the problems that we are facing as residents, because as the saying goes, "all politics is local." That is what I will do as your councilmember.
