Neal Gooch
Neal Gooch is the former Utah Commissioner of Insurance. He was appointed by Governor Gary Herbert on May 24, 2010.
Biography
Gooch was born in Southeastern Idaho and attended high school in Arizona. After graduating from Arizona State University with a bachelor's degree in political science, he worked for Bailey Deardourff and Associates, a political advertising firm in Washington, DC. While he was living in DC, Gooch earned his J.D. and relocated to Utah. He was appointed Assistant Attorney General in 1982 and worked in the office until 1997, when he was appointed Deputy Insurance Commissioner. Gooch served as deputy insurance commissioner until his appointment as insurance commissioner in May of 2010.[1]
