The Nebraska Gambling Amendment did not make the November 2012 ballot in the state of Nebraska. This measure would have allowed legislators to approve casinos in Nebraska if approved first by voters. It was proposed by Senator Paul Schumacher, but did not make it through committee.[1]
Path to the ballot
In order to have qualified for the ballot, the measure must be passed by a supermajority (60%) of the Nebraska State Legislature. The bill was killed by a 5-1 vote in the General Affairs Committee on Monday, February 6, 2012.
